Leadership Programs
Advocates for Community Engagement (ACE)--Office of Service-Learning Autism Mentoring Program (AMP)—Hutton Honors College Civic Leadership Development Program (CLD)--Kelley School of Business *Participation is limited to incoming students This five day pre-Welcome Week event is sponsored by The Office of First Year Experience Programs in collaboration with the Student Activities Office. Community Plunge provides first-year students with an overview of the community, campus, and local not-for-profit agencies. With a busy agenda of service, reflection, workshops, speakers, and fun, incoming freshman participants serve others while getting to know IU's campus and the city of Bloomington. Students examine social issues, discover community resources, and realize leadership potential by taking the Community Plunge. Community Service Program (CSP)--Hutton Honors College The Journey Fellowship for Students is an 8-month program, running from January to August each year, that offers personal grounding and professional immersion experiences to college students interested in pursuing careers working with youth. Through overnight retreats, one day events and a summer internship at a youth serving agency, the Journey helps students develop a meaningful career path based on their unique gifts and passion. After successfully completing the program, students are awarded a $1,000 stipend. For program dates and to download the application, visit www.thejourneyonline.org. LEAD IU provides participants with tools and resources to chart a path to leadership through curricular and co-curricular offerings. Through participation, students develop skills, acquire knowledge, build relationships, and gain awareness of available opportunities. LEAD IU currently offers the 2 credit, Education U495 course Leadership and Community Service. The Scholar Corps is a student organization comprised of 21st Century Scholars who have a passion for service and leadership through volunteerism. The primary mission of Scholar Corps is to assist 21st Century Scholar students to find volunteer opportunities that match their career aspirations and general interests. In addition to individual volunteering, Scholar Corps students take part in group volunteer projects throughout each semester. The Scholar Corps also tracks and verifies students’ volunteer hours. Participation in the Scholar Corps promotes active engagement in both the campus and community. It also connects students to each other, IU, and community resources.
