IU: A special website dedicated to serving as a clearinghouse for all related educational and fundraising activities in Bloomington, as well as information about aid to Haiti, is now active. This is an official campaign set up by members of the IU community in collaboration with Partners in Health, a medical non-profit that has worked in Haiti at a grassroots level for over 20 years. CLACS: Bring medical supplies and non-perishable food items to IU’s Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS) at 1125 E. Atwater Ave. They need wound dressings and bandages; rehydration packets; Chloroquine (anti-malarial); non-perishable foods (peanut butter, crackers, canned items, for instance). SPEA S.T.A.R.T.: Please donate any amount within your means to one of the *two collection cans located in the MPA/MSES Program Office and the Graduate Student Lounge*. All donations will be promptly sent to Oxfam America for Haiti Earthquake disaster management and to assist victims of the earthquake. Please make checks payable to Oxfam America with "Haiti Earthquake Response Fund" in the memo line. Bloomington Community Relief Efforts The City of Bloomington has devoted a page on its web site to highlight information, resources and links in the wake of the earthquake. The site includes a calendar of local events supporting humanitarian efforts, instructions for text donations benefiting several active nonprofit organizations, a detailed list of volunteer opportunities and links to other home pages and resources. Established International Aid Organizations Responding to the Disaster: International Committee of the Red Cross International Rescue Committee Some organizations accepting donations by text message: American Red Cross: You can text "HAITI" to 90999 to donate $10 to American Red Cross relief for Haiti, charged to your cell phone bill. Yele Haiti: You can text "YELE" to 501501 to automatically donate $5 to the Yele Haiti Earthquake Fund, charged to your cell phone bill.
